DEXA

What is a DEXA scan?

X-Rays

Bone density or DEXA is used to diagnose several diseases such as Osteopenia and Osteoporosis which is known to cause weakening of the bones. DEXA uses a small amount of X-Ray and a special computer system to create a custom profile of the patient’s bony structure. This can be used to track changes over time and help your doctor adjust therapies as needed.

Once your scan is completed, our technologists will send the images to our Board Certified Radiologist who will review and interpret your scan. A written report of the results will be sent to your referring doctor within 48 hours. In most cases, your physician will have your results in 24 hours. A disc of digital images is also available upon request.
