Computed Tomography (CT) is based on the x-ray principle. This high-speed diagnostic system acts as an x-ray that passes through the body where it is absorbed or weakened at differing levels creating multiple x-ray beams of different strengths. This x-ray profile is registered on film, thus creating an image.

The technique is painless and can provide extremely accurate images of the body's structure. Vantage Diagnostic Imaging's CT scanner is called a 'spiral' or 'helical' camera and provides rapid, accurate visualization of internal organs for diagnostic and screening studies.

A CT scan is a very quick procedure most lasting under 10 minutes.

Once your scan is completed, our technologists will send the images to our Board Certified Radiologist who will review and interpret your scan. A written report of the results will be sent to your referring doctor within 48 hours. In most cases, your physician will have your results in 24 hours. A disc of digital images is also available upon request.
