Ultrasound/Sonography

What is an ultrasound?

An ultrasound is a medical exam that uses high-frequency sound waves to create live images from the inside of your body. The technology is close to that used by sonar, which helps the military detect planes and ships.

An ultrasound gives your physician the opportunity to see problems with organs, vessels, and tissues without having to do surgery.

Unlike other imaging techniques, ultrasound uses no radiation. Another term for an ultrasound is sonography.

Once your scan is completed, our technologists will send the images to our Board Certified Radiologist who will review and interpret your scan. A written report of the results will be sent to your referring doctor within 48 hours. In most cases, your physician will have your results in 24 hours. A disc of digital images is also available upon request.
